The Feather Factory Lofts is a 6 storey mid-rise hard loft building located in Toronto’s Roncesvalles neighbourhood. The building is home to 44 authentic spaces ranging in size from 430 to 1070 square feet. Most floors have 11-foot ceilings while the penthouse level benefits from soaring 14.5-foot ceilings. Large windows flood open layouts with natural light, and partial 7-foot walls for bedroom allow light (and noise) to travel throughout. Beamed ceilings and exposed brick provide authenticity here in spades.
The building was originally built in 1919 and served as home to a down duvet manufacturer among other light manufacturing purposes. Zoning changed to commercial in 1981, and then again after an extensive proposal by Plazacorp when they purchased the building in 2007 with an aim to its current incarnation.
This is a really nice building in a neighbourhood that continues to gentrify. Served by both Roncesvalles Village and the Junction, the surroundings are poised to get even better as higher-density living options have popped up and are changing the socio-economic nature of the neighbourhood.
