Philanthropy

What is Philanthropy?

Greek playwright Aeschylus coined the term philanthropy in the 5th century BCE. It meant “love of humanity.” Today, philanthropy means generosity in all its forms and is often defined as giving gifts of “time, talent and treasure” to help make life better for other people.

Why is it important to help?

Communities around the globe face complex problems, every day. Think poverty, environmental challenges, and lack of access to healthcare. These are just a few areas in need of investment and development – which can’t always be fulfilled by governments.

Charity has the power to accelerate progress where it’s needed most, and support the causes that can fuel real change in the world. This benefits people, the planet, and society as a whole.

What impact does Charity produce?

Charity has the power to influence lasting social change. When an organization receives support, a ‘ripple effect’ takes place. Many lives are touched, potentially for generations.

Most philosophies and religions, not to mention common sense, include a strong belief in giving back to the world. Not only does it have the obvious benefit of helping others, but it’s apparently one of the most therapeutic things we can do for ourselves.

Mahatma Gandhi is quoted as saying, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

WE CARE!

Rose Barroso & Posh-Haus Inc find it important and necessary to give money, time and help as much as possible. Rose tends to research and find the causes that touch her personally or that she feels her donations will make the most impactful changes.

Finding a purpose might be a smart move—or, if you can’t figure that out yet, do a random good deed for a person or a cause, and see how it makes you feel. Ancient wisdom and modern science seem to agree:

Being part of something larger might be one of the best things we can do, both for others and ourselves.

Our Vision

You can talk about mental health all you want. We believe in moving beyond awareness by taking action that drives change and impacts lives.

Mental health services are a right, not a privilege. Yet, access to services is one of the most significant barriers to getting help. Hats On raises funds to invest in organizations breaking barriers to ensure local mental health and wellness programs can be offered to more individuals. Simply put, we all need better access to mental health services.

We raise funds to further the reach of mental health programs.

We are committed to increasing funding to ensure better local mental health and wellness programs can be offered to more individuals needing help, more frequently.
